Getting to DC!

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is the most convenient airport to fly into and is approximately 5 miles (or a 12-minute drive) from the Westin DC Downtown Hotel.  Providing a choice of ground transportation options: taxis, rental cars, shared ride van service, metrorail and bus service.

Additional Airport Access

  • Dulles International Airport (IAD): Positioned 26 miles west of DC, also served by metro.
  • Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI): Situated 32 miles from DC and accessible by Amtrak.

Car Rentals: There are multiple on-airport and off-airport rental car brands to serve you including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Sixt, and Thrifty. Additional information is available if you are coming from DCA or Dulles!

Metro: Washington, DC Metrorail system
Refer to Metro’s website for the Reagan National station or the Dulles Airport station.

Pro Tips:

  • Travel Time: If your airport of choice is DCA, the entire journey should take around 30-35 minutes. If you are flying into IAD, travel time is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • Rush Hour: If you’re traveling during rush hour, be prepared for crowded trains and allow extra time.
  • SmarTrip Card: Keep your SmarTrip card handy for both entry and exit from the Metro stations.

Train Station:
Union Station is DC’s premier multimodal transportation hub and is the country’s second busiest Amtrak station. The station also services Metro, the Virginia Railway Express (VRE), which offers service between Northern Virginia and DC and the Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC), which provides commuter rail service for neighboring Maryland.

Bus Station: Greyhound
The DC Circulator connects many neighborhoods and attractions. It costs $1 for one regular fare. SmarTrip cards offer discounted rates from transfers.
